Kitchen clean up is not my favorite task at hand, but alas it must be done. So I thought I should make it worth my while by choosing minimal kitchen cleaning essentials that are not only functional but pretty to look at. While our kitchen renovation is still months away, there is no reason the cleaning essentials should suffer.

The idea for this post came from a friend who recently asked me what supplies we use at the kitchen sink, so I thought I would expand on her request and share with you, my go-to choices.

From sponges and dishcloths to scrubby brushes, I broke down my favorites of each in an effort to minimize the products you use in your kitchen. And of course, they should be nice to look at as well.

SPONGES

White sponges keep things fresh at the kitchen sink. My favorite is from Muji, made of 3 layers, from dense and scrubby to soft and porous. The price tag is also easy on the wallet at just under $2. Kept offers a white sponge made from natural fibers that promises the texture is soft enough for fine china but durable enough for cast iron. If white sponges scare you, this Kept style also comes in black.

DISHCLOTHS

If you are more of a dishcloth convert, there are no two better options than the Iris Hantverk cotton/linen cloth or the wool cloths from Alder & Co. Both offer natural fibers that can be composted after use and their aesthetic is minimal.

SCRUBBY BRUSHES

For those hard to clean pots and pans, you might need more than elbow grease. For a small handheld brush, this Pots & Pans Brush made from Beachwood and union fiber works great. If you want more scrubbing area on your brush, the Vegetable Brush, made from coconut bristles is a great option as well.
