If you have a grandmother like mine, who corners you with a fork in hand and demands to know what you’ll be eating for dinner on Thanksgiving, then you will appreciate this post. I urge you to try out some (or all) of these delicious vegan Thanksgiving recipes that I’ve gathered over the years. In my experience, the vegan dishes get eaten first at every meal, by meat eaters and plant-based dieters alike. Isn’t the best part of the Thanksgiving Day meal all about the sides? Well as a vegan, our meal is mostly made up of delicious side dishes.

On Thanksgiving you get to snack on tasty treats hours before dinner is even ready. Some of our favorite before-dinner-snacks include Roasted Garlic and Pumpkin DipSweet and Spicey Mixed Nuts, and Smokey Harissa Eggplant Dip. In our house, brussels sprouts are king, so we use them in multiple recipes. This year we are excited to try Ina Garten’s Balsamic Brussels Sprouts (minus the pancetta) for a stand alone dish. We always put brussels sprouts in our favorite stuffing recipe from Food52: Butternut Squash, Brussels Sprout, and Bread Stuffing with Apples. My husband is Irish, so potatoes come in many forms for Thanksgiving. The Best Damn Vegan Mashed Potatoes are always a must. This year we are adding these Crispy Smashed Potatoes with Avocado Garlic Aioli to the menu. Other vegetable dishes include ‘Cheesy’ Whole Roasted CauliflowerZucchini GratinRoasted Carrots with Carrot-top Pesto, and Roasted Vidalia Onions with Herbed Bread Crumbs.

For dessert, the options are endless. From Deep Dish Apple Crumble Pie and Gooey Pumpkin Spice Latte Chocolate Pudding Cake to Almond Cookies with Spiced Apple Slices and Vegan Baklava.

If you are in New York City for Thanksgiving and you don’t feel like cooking, we highly recommend Blossom’s Vegan Thanksgiving Dinner. It offers multiple options and doesn’t disappoint! Last year we took two meat-eaters there for Thanksgiving and they didn’t miss their turkey at all!
